Raising the aspirations of rural Maine youth.

The I Know ME (IKME) program works with students in the Mount View School system to raise the aspirations of rural Maine kids by allowing them to explore and learn more about our great state!  Co-horts of ten kids beginning in the 7th grade have this unique opportunity to learn about Maine.  They’ll visit all of our state parks, attend Maine’s food festivals, meet with representatives at the State House, and enjoy other one-of-kind opportunities to learn more about Maine’s people and history.  The program began its second year in 2019, and currently has 20 youth enrolled.

Program Description:

I Know ME takes place at Mount View Middle School once a week for two hours plus scheduled field trips.  Students take the late bus home from school or the Game Loft provides transportation.  I Know ME programming runs throughout the school year, summer, and during school vacations.

Programming focuses on field trips, educational enrichment, helping kids become comfortable with themselves and others, games, conversation, decision-making, and travel.  Participants explore Maine from the mountains to the seashore and learn about the people, places, and things in their own backyards and in the rest of the state.  The I Know ME program works closely with the Mount View staff to provide academic enrichment and to support kids at school, home, and in the community.  The program is restricted to 10 kids per co-hort so that each child receives individual attention and support.

All I Know ME programs are free to participating families.
